Description

This session reviews the impact and causes of violence, its psychological effects, such as stress and PTSD, and introduces approaches like trauma-informed care to better support patients and reduce reinjury.

Objectives

1. Identify the epidemiology, definitions, and contributing factors of violence, enhancing awareness of its broader impacts.
2. Learn to identify and address the psychological consequences of violence, such as stress
responses and PTSD.
3. Gain knowledge of intervention programs and care models like trauma-informed care and the Sanctuary model to improve patient support and reduce reinjury.
